The Third Ear is dedicated to the preservation of one of America’s original art forms, Jazz. During the 20th century, particularly during the 1920s through the 1940’s, all African American music was categorized as race music. When disc jockeys had the opportunity to play race music, they had a limited 4 hour span. Disc jockeys didn’t have the luxury to play specific genres over time. They played all black artists producing music at that time. It was a beautiful mixture of Jazz, R&B, Gospel, and Blues.
